NYX Cleansing Salt Scrub Review

My love of salt is borderline abysmal, like it puts the depths of Challenger Deep to shame. I need salt in my food, hair products, body scrub, on my margarita glass, and now NYX has given me a briny little face scrub!!!

I consider myself a mermaid, not for beauty reasons but because I am so freaking salty!!!

NYX Cleansing Salt Scrub ($8):  Quick background on my face:

  • forehead/cheeks are dry
  • nose/chin have larger pores that get clogged and also oily
  • hormonal breakouts occur around my chin/lower cheek region
  • my skin is sensitive!

The salt in this scrub is on the finer side which makes for a good scrubbing experience. Now the formula does contain fragrance and mixing that with the salt, can be a bit much for sensitive skin.

The first night I used this was after being outside with my kids all day, so my skin was kind of funky. This scrub did a wonderful job of removing the oil and sweat without causing any discomfort. The second time, my skin was in its normal state and I found this to be more abrasive. It wasn’t painful just not as refreshing as the first use. The third time I didn’t rinse off completely which caused some discomfort, so make sure to thoroughly rinse this salty sucker off your face!!!

This scrub is better suited for oily skin or for those grimy summer days. For sensitive and/or dry skin, I feel there is just too much going on between the salt and fragrance for this to be useful. There are other scrubs on the market that will suit you better!

Even though my skin is sensitive, I will continue to use this since the south gets humid and sometimes gentles scrubs just aren’t enough!!

I hope this post will help you make a wise choice and that’s really what I strive for with these reviews! So if you found this helpful please follow my Blog and Instagram, also hit those share buttons!!

I didn’t even know NYX did a skincare range! I swear in Australia they’ve only just started introducing their makeup range 🙈

It’s actually pretty new and most Americans didn’t know either!!! I just stalk the new section on Ulta’s website, so that’s the only reason I knew!!
