Too Faced Melted Latex: Review, Swatches and Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer.

If you have seen any of my past reviews, you probably know how disappointing some of Too Faced’s newer launches have been for me. So when my glossy-lip loving self saw this new launch my heart stopped.

Unfortunately, this product didn’t work well for me.

Before we go any further, let me do a quick little chat. I really do love Too Faced and that isn’t just me trying to get into some type of good graces for free makeup…aka Beauty Guru PR. I buy and will continue to buy Too Faced with my own money because I am a consumer first and foremost.

I get upset at Too Faced when their products are inconstant. They will create beautiful formulas for one launch and then the next will be a let down. So, while this lip formula isn’t my favorite, it is their first time launching a product of this nature. Hopefully they will come out with something a bit better in the future.

Too Faced Melted Latex ($21): I am a pretty big fan of Too Faced’s Melted and Melted Matte Lipsticks. They are comfortable, beautiful, and overall easy to wear. These latex lipsticks aren’t exactly up to par. They are thick, really sticky, and tug on my lips when applying. Yes they have a beautiful shine, opaque with only one application, and offer a nice range of shade options…but feel so uncomfortable!

It’s like rubbing honey on your lips…really thick, tacky honey that leaves a sticky residue once you wipe it off. Honestly there isn’t much more I can say on this lipstick besides it’s a pass for me.

If you want to have color and high shine I suggest getting a nice clear gloss to put over your lipstick or just picking up Lorac’s Alter Ego Glosses, NYX Butter or Intense Butter Glosses, and/or LA Colors HighShine Lip Gloss. All those options offer beautiful color pay off and shine without being thick or tacky.

Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer ($8): So, whilst I was browsing for the Too Faced lipsticks, these little bad boys were right next to them on the Ulta page…coincidence…I think not!!

I am a curious person and had to pick up a few for comparison! I tried to get similar shades to see if they would 100% dupes, unfortunately the shades are a bit off.

The good news is that the Maybelline lipsticks are comfortable! They have the same beautiful shine, but without the thick, sticky and uncomfortable texture of Too Faced. I was able to get great coverage with a single application and even had to blot off excess product. These aren’t long-lasting liquid lipsticks and will wear off after eating, drinking, and usual daily activities.

Top to Bottom: Too Faced Peekaboo, Maybelline Too Cute, and Maybelline Unreal. (I will say that the Too Cute shade makes teeth look dingy, so be weary when looking into this one!)

Left wand is Too Faced and right wand is Maybelline.

Too Faced Hopeless Romantic not pictured since both are going back and didn’t need to use this tube for reviewing.

I hope this helps you make a wise purchase and that’s really what I strive for with these reviews! So if you found this useful please follow my Blog and Instagram, also hit those share buttons!!
