Sugar, Keep It Simple

Highlighters!!! A few faves plus swatches: Becca, Essence, ELF, & more.

I just wanted to share a few highlighters in my collection that are perfect for everyday or those who like to take a more natural approach when it comes to glowing!

These are in no particular order because I wear and love them all equally. Since these are finely milled and less pigmented powders, some will wear off quicker than others if you don’t use a setting spray, touch your face a lot, or will be sweating throughout the day.

So, who’s ready for a little razzle-dazzle!?!

E.L.F. Illuminating Palette: No shade names*

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter: Be My Highlight *

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed: Moonstone*

Laura Geller Baked Highlighter: French Vanilla*

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder: Incandescent *

Makeup Revolution Radiance Highlighter Palette: No shade names *

*Indicates micro glitter.

Review

E.L.F. Illuminating Palette ($6): I really love this palette and am actually on my second one! You are getting 4 unique shades to either wear alone or mix and match to suit your mood. All of the shades are nice and subtle, but you can build them up or even use some spray on your brush to help intensify them. The powders are soft and creamy, so unfortunately once I started to hit pan, they became brittle and broke. I used it as long as possible but due to the fact that I take flat lays, a new one was required!

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($5): I did a full review on an earlier Essence Post, so will just say that this peachy, golden highlighter is beautiful and adds the right amount of glow!!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38): This is the most intense of the highlights, but still gives a natural glow due to its paler golden tone. If you go heavy-handed this will quickly go from subtle to Bam! in your face, but I like that versatility. Becca has some amazing quality and this powder is like butter, plus a little goes a long way!

Laura Geller Baked Highlighter ($37): I bought this a couple of years ago as a mini trio, but it is sold on the Laura Geller site as a duo with Golden Rose, which I own and is beautiful. The reason I am only talking about French Vanilla is because the micro glitters are so small that you almost can’t see them, but they still give off a lovely, subtle glow. I didn’t like this at first because it was so subtle, but quickly realized how beautiful it made my skin and is my favorite when it comes to natural makeup. Even though this is a baked highlight, the formula is still rich, creamy, and easy to blend! The swatch looks very yellow, but is soft golden shade in person so I had to build it up to show on camera.

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder($38): This pink toned powder is so light and finely milled that it almost feels like you are touching air! I love to lightly dust this on my face a finishing powder to add that all over glow or build it up on my cheeks for a bit more drama! This was difficult to swatch due to the fact that it is a soft, pearlized pink and matched my skin tone.

Makeup Revolution Radiance Highlighter Palette ($15): I do have a full review of this palette on my Makeup Revolution Postso will just say that these three powders are creamy, subtle, and remind me a lot of the Hourglass Ambient powders.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoy these highlighters and hopefully you will as well! If you have used any of these products, please let us know what your thoughts are or any recommendations for achieving that glow from within!!

Now, go forth and Gleam With Gusto!!

BONUS!!

The ELF Highlighting Brushing is my favorite for applying highlighters and I reach for this versus any other brush in my collection!!
